For the last few months my baby sister, Emma, has been living with us. (And by baby, I mean 21.;)) We’ve loved having her around and one unexpected surprise has been getting to put together her room. I had been working on this room to be a playroom and had just finished scraping the ceiling in here and painting the walls when we decided she was coming to live with us. It ended up being a great blank slate for her colorful stuff. I loved all the boho bedroom ideas she brought to the table! All of the furniture is ours but most of the decor is hers. Her decor are pieces I would have never had an opportunity to use otherwise but I love how they give this space a totally different feel than anything we’ve ever had around here. I’m normally the only lady holding down the fort here so seeing the pop of pink every time I walk by the room has been really fun & unexpected!
The walls are painted Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore, it’s a great chameleon of a color that depending on the time of day it can be more gray or a very light beige. I love the neutral backdrop to the pops of color around the room. Emma brought the curtains (Ikea Vivion panels) and hanging decor with her. Luckily the our guest furniture works well with it! (See the same furniture in a different space here.) To round out the room I shopped around the house to find things to add interest and texture. I was thrilled that the basket finally had a home again as well as the nubby blue pillow on the bed and the colorful pillow on the love seat.
There are so many great ideas out there for boho decor right now! Here are a few that caught my eye from Pinterest:
- DIY Pom Pom Basket from Honestly WTF This is one of those easy and satisfying Netflix + chill projects. Bookmarking it for myself for this winter.
- DIY Tassel Chandelier from Blue Agate Abode This chandelier DIY is SOOOOO good.
- DIY Beaded Chandelier Another light fixture, this one with wood beads. House of Lars knocks it out of the park with this very professional looking DIY.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the peek into Emma’s boho bedroom. It was a lot of fun for us to work together on. I’m including links below that are the same or similar in case you’re looking to for boho bedroom ideas of your own.
