I was flipping around on Instagram the other day when I realized I’d written several blog posts about easy ways to update your bathroom. (Are you following me over there? If not click here to start!) So I thought, “I need to put those all together in one easy reference post!”, and that’s why I’m here today. 🙂 I like these little updates because when you are trying to settle into a new space or are tight on the ole home improvement budget these small changes make a big impact for very little money. It’s easy to do a bathroom makeover on a budget in as little as 1 day!
So without further adu here are my best tips for an easy bathroom makeover on a budget:
- Change the mirror: This is my #1 tip because it is the easiest and fastest way to begin giving your bathroom a custom look. It doesn’t require a saw (scary!) or any special skills. Unique mirrors can be found at all price points and any manner of stores, including thrift stores, which means it is something ANYONE can do! - Add art: When I initially redid the bathroom I deviated from my original plan and used bright white paint instead of an off white or ivory. That sounds so silly to type out but it threw everything off. Now even if I had nailed the paint color on the first try I still would have added art but what saved my bad paint job was the art. - Paint, Paint, Paint: No one can argue with the power of paint. Bathrooms have so many hard finishes that you might underestimate the power of paint but don’t. Of course paint your walls, but what about your vanity? If your vanity is outdated or the finish looks worn freshen it up, and extend it’s life, with paint. - Do something bold with the shower curtain: Have you ever heard that a bathroom is the best place for a bold wallpaper? Well I’m going to counter that and say that the bathroom is the best place to go BOLD no matter what. The reason why this is the case is it’s a small space and there are already so many hard, white finishes (toilet, tub, sink) that there is usually a natural counter balance. When I took the chance and repurposed bold drapery as a shower curtain it changed & elevated the look of the entire bathroom. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE A BOLD SHOWER CURTAIN MAKES.
These are not only great tips for freshening your bathroom up but also of how to update it for selling your home. To see my full guide on how to stage a bathroom to sell click here.
Now that you see how easy it is to do a bathroom makeover on a budget what’s the first thing you’re going to do?!
