Christmas Master Bedroom Tour

Two years ago I was browsing Pinterest and came across a bedroom decorated for Christmas and realized I had the perfect master bedroom to be decorated – it is green after all!  (Take the full tour here.) A week later a black Friday impulse purchase of Christmasy flannel sheets confirmed that my bedroom was getting a holiday treatment and now here I am two years later with a Christmas master bedroom tour!  I love traditional red and green for color scheme but because I don’t use those colors for our living or family room trees (and don’t use red anywhere in the house year round) most of these decorations went unused until I began doing up our room.  I am SO happy that these little pieces have found a home for the season because they make for the perfect Christmas master bedroom decor.

In a lot of ways this room is still a hodge-podge of furniture from parents, childhood and our first house so overall I feel like this room has a bit of a different furniture vibe that the rest of the house.  But for Christmas I think all of the extra curves and traditionalism in these pieces are wonderful in here!  The bookcase was given to us by my husbands parents.  It has a bit of a story (which means it has flaws ie: character) but is something we’ve loved having in both of our homes.  We didn’t have a great spot for it when we moved in and it ended up in our bedroom as a mantle of sorts.  This year I kept the ginger jars (from Kirklands a few years ago, the size is fabulous) and added assorted Christmas trees to the top.

My husbands grandmother (affectionately called grandmommy) made beautiful needlepoint stockings for everyone in his family – and their future wives – which his mom still hangs and uses.  (My mother in law has kept the tradition and continues to make them for the grand kids.)  Several years ago I found these two at a thrift store and they reminded me so much of those that I got them and display them in our master bedroom.

I’ve shared a few times about my love for the equestrian print chairs in my bedroom (a thrift store find, $20 each, that my dear husband obliged me with).  The chairs sing with these throws topped over them.  The needlepoint pillows are another nod to grandmommy, the cardinal one came home because we were college sweethearts and our college mascot was the Cardinals.  In case you can’t tell I am an absolutely sentimental sap.  😉  (You can peek into that closet behind the chair here:   No Spend Challenge DIY Shoe Closet Makeover)

Our bed linen gets a seasonal makeover with the additional of the previously mentioned flannel sheets.  I have other flannel sheets but these are the most soft and warm set we have.  When I first bought this pattern I got it because it was the best out of the patterns available in the right size, but once I got them here on the bed I loved the red with our green walls!  This year I picked up this duvet while shopping with a friend.  It was $5 (yep, you guessed it – thrifted) and while it’s not my go-to pattern or colors, I knew it would be the exact addition I needed to help tie the Christmas bedding together.
