One of the things I just love about Christmas is the steady stream of happy mail we receive throughout the month. (And no, I’m not talking about the Amazon boxes.) Ever since we have been married I have stuck the years stash of Christmas cards down in the bottom of one of our tubs. I can never bring myself to throw away those family photos or notes from distant relatives, so each year more and more holiday cards end up being tossed down in the bottom of the tub. A few years ago as I was pulling out our Christmas stuff I rediscovered the old cards and realized I had everything I needed to preserve the cards in a way that we would be able to enjoy year after year. I snapped these the other day with my phone (which is just about the extent of my ability at this moment) so I could share this with you.
For this holiday card diy display album you will need:
- Christmas cards/photos
- Hole Punch
- 8 x 8 album
- 8 x 8 page sleeves – optional

I already had a blank 8 x 8 chipboard album in my office stash (anyone else randomly have things like this?) and a hand held hole punch so this DIY cost me $0. All you do is use your hole punch and punch the appropriate number of holes into your cards. I normally choose to keep any card with a photo or loose photos that have been included. I often also keep handmade cards or ones that have personal notes. For those I include a few 8 x 8 scrapbook sleeves at the back of the album so I can slide those down into there without having to punch them.
There was a Christmas card with a tree on the front cover. I thought it was pretty so I cut it out and glued it on the front of my chipboard album. That was the most difficult skill required for the entire project (and of course it is completely optional)! Once all of your cards have been added to the album your holiday card diy display is complete!
I love how this has turned out and it’s simple to keep up with year after year. After last year I think this little album has reached capacity so this year I may begin a volume 2!
