Why I didn’t blog in December

I launched this blog in January of last year. In my heart I’d been writing it for many years (and indeed did write a blog sporadically elsewhere) but I knew it was time for me to get serious and DO IT if I ever was going to. My baby goes to kindergarten this year and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to dedicate myself full time to any task fully until then, especially one that required so much computer time. Even so as the year went on I continued to publish content, invest in myself and the blog and was able to watch it begin to grow.

Towards the end of summer I took on some unexpected responsibilities that I tried to balance without letting anything else drop. The blog was beginning to show real progress (YAY) and I tried sooooo hard to keep it up. But in the months that followed I just couldn’t do it. All year I had looked forward and planned content for those all important (and home festooned) fall and winter months, yet when October rolled around I was barely able to keep up with the things that were right in front of me, let alone those that weren’t. I managed to publish a few blogs during the last few months, but my content wasn’t nearly where I had hoped it to be and my social media presence tanked.

This isn’t an apology and it isn’t even really guilt on my part. It is me saying that I’m here and I’m moving forward. Sometimes stuff happens and sometimes you just do the best you can. I hated not being able to share my home tour with the blog, but there was no time to photograph, edit, load, write, publish and promote it. Instead I decided to use that time to hang with the people I share this house with, the ones that make everything else worth it.

So that’s where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to! I’m ready to roll into 2019 with a clean slate and a joyful heart – what about you?
