Christmas Morning Breakfast Table

The night before Christmas we have a few traditions in our house.  We always read ‘The Night Before Christmas’ and the boys open one package.  They are convinced it is always Christmas pajamas 😉  Then after the kids go to sleep I sneak into the kitchen and prep our Christmas breakfast table.  It doesn’t take a lot of time but it’s something I like to do to make the morning a teeny bit more special.  Now if we met in real life I’m not sure if you would be surprised or not, but you’d quickly learn that cooking is not my favorite thing.  (Why do they have to eat EVERY day?!)  I am not the mom who wakes early to make a giant Christmas breakfast but I AM the mom that buys fun Christmas morning pastries and serves them on Christmas plates for a festive and fun morning meal.  I thought it would be fun to show how I’ve got the kitchen set up this year and give a peek at my plans for my Christmas morning breakfast table.

You can see that I didn’t add much in the way of a centerpiece because although I love a big decor moment, on Christmas I want space for breakfast treats front and center!  The big impact of this table comes from the vintage velvet placemats.

Most of the Christmas kitchen decor is on the buffet next to the table.  I moved the buffet in here last year to make room for our living room tree but we liked it so much it stayed all year.  It also gave me a ‘fun’ space that I can play and decorate throughout the year for the holidays which has been fun.  This Santa cookie jar was passed down to me (my grandmother made it) and it never had a spot that it felt right in.  It feels great to have a dedicated spot for Santa!

We are Christians and our advent is considerably less than much of what I see on Pinterest and Instagram.  We have advent cards that we read each night after dinner that walk through the Christmas story.  I use clothespins to clip them onto the tree and each night we flip over the verses and read them.  It is a small and sweet tradition.

I don’t think any kitchen Christmas decor is finished until you have a hot chocolate display right?!
