I don’t know about you but too often it seems like my days slip by and my to-do list ends longer than it started. I’ve had a lot of those days recently trying to get everything in place before Christmas comes. I’ve pushed myself on the blog to publish several posts this fall, and especially this month (no regrets on that front). Add in all of our personal commitments and daily life and I’m just ready to stop and enjoy Christmas.
Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year and seeing my little boys experience the holiday brings a new joy each year. I wrapped up most of my commitments last week and on a whim was able to grab my camera one night after the boys went to bed to take these photos. This week I am enjoying the last days before Christmas and soaking in the holiday spirit.
I love new pretty things and old vintage things, but handmade things will always have my heart. Every year since the boys were born we’ve made ornaments together. This is the first one I made, 8 years ago now, with my little 5 month old son’s hand print. These are the real treasures in life.
The thing I dislike the most about being busy and pulled here and there (even when I’m the one making it that way) is that it takes away from the things that are the most important. I love the anticipation of Christmas. As Christian that takes on a different, and special, meaning as we attempt to prepare our hearts for the birth of our King. I pray that my heart is always waiting in anticipation and that my boys learn that as well.
In closing, this post wasn’t about anything. It was about soaking in the joy of what’s so special about Christmas and being able to stop and be content. It’s about reminding myself of all of those things.
Thank you for the gift that you all are to me. I will be taking a break until after the new year to stop and fully enjoy all the time with my friends and family. I pray that each of you have a wonderful Christmas, that you’re hearts greet the Lord on Christmas morning and that your homes are filled with those you love. Very Merry Christmas dear friends!
