Thanksgiving table decor is probably the easiest for me to pull together. My collection is heavily brown and green, which lends itself so well to a Thanksgiving tablescape. Mixed with fall neutrals and loads of texture it’s not hard to learn how to decorate a table for Thanksgiving. Don’t overthink what to put in the middle of a table for Thanksgiving either! The table setting I’m using for this months tablescape is a bit of a cheat (don’t tell!) as it’s one I assembled last year and photographed with no real plan in mind. So once again I beg you to forgive the color balance, haha, and look at the elements used to create the overall vibe.
There is no easier way to make a big impact with a centerpiece than to start by using a wreath. This grapevine wreath, which on it’s own is a bit plain, is the perfect base for what to put in the middle of the Thanksgiving table. This centerpiece makes a big impact but is very easy to recreate. Inside of the wreath a simple, clear glass cake stand was placed. A circular candleholder (similar here) was put on top and a patterned soup tureen was placed in the middle. Green candlesticks grab attention & add drama to the scene.
Two small foraged floral arrangements were placed on either side of the centerpiece. I think the table would have worked without those but adding a bit of life is always a good idea when creating tablescapes.
The two pieces you’ll find on my table 80% of the time are these silver chargers & woven placemats. Invest your money in pieces that you can dress up a million different ways and be careful about how much seasonal table decor you add into your cabinets.
Table linens can end up looking boring and FLAT. In the cooler months I find myself craving as much texture as I can find in my home. For this reason I often grab a knitted throw or blanket to use as a table cloth over a traditional table linen. The key is to place it on the table diagonally to create movement. This particular throw is a favorite of mine because it is thin and very slouchy, which makes it FEEL cozy and welcoming.
I remember taking these photos in the early evening to get the evening glow. In the end I didn’t balance the camera or color and it ended up being a task I wasn’t willing to take on in post process. BUT the photo below shows WHY I took the pictures. There is NOTHING like the ambiance of candlelight. See the best candlelit dinner party here for proof.
Even when we travel for holidays I still love to keep a tablescape up and on the table. It helps the room feel more used AND keeps my family & I from cluttering it up with all our junk! What are you going to use for your Thanksgiving table decor this year?
