Hold onto your hats ladies because this months September table decorations are my ABSOLUTE favorite tablescape of the year! I’m not even going to wait until the year is over to call it, hands down this is my favorite. (INSERT ALL THE HEART EYE EMOJIS HERE) I’m warning you now there is a photo overshare. I make no apologizes.
I loved setting the July tablescape on the bistro table so much that I decided to do the tablescape out there again this month. It’s a fresh challenge working in such a confined space and it’s stretching me in awesome ways. In July I felt like I could have added a little more and been ok, so this month that’s exactly what I did. I kept the centerpiece against the window the same way I did in July. I love how it creates a whole scene that way. Dimension was added by using the same potted flower pot that I used in the August tablescape. I didn’t want this to be as ‘outdoor neutral’ as last month so I grabbed these orange & brown fall plates to fully usher in fall. A hit of gold, brass and amber give this setting the warmth needed for it to be inviting.
After I loaded the July tablescape photos I felt I had missed an opportunity by not utilizing the back wall (with the hooks) as much as I could have. The painting and blanket were added to bring more ‘cozy’ to the space. (In the summer we use the hooks for swim gear & towels.) My goal for these September table decorations were to layer as much as possible without it being in overload.
I went light on the glassware so I could add the woven placemat. The glasses were both placed on the same side of the table because it was the best place they would fit. Don’t be afraid to move things out of their ‘proper’ place in your table settings. I often layer & move pieces around for a more artful setting. It’s absolutely good to know the proper way to set a table (see how here), but don’t sacrifice style in order to do it ‘right’.
All that texture & pattern? YES PLEASE.
This planter is filled with all of my ‘leftover’ plants…the one-off plants that didn’t fit in my other pots or were scraps from old pots – ha! In fact the kale was overwintered from last falls flower pots. That little line of creeping jenny was propagated into that pot at the beginning of the summer. Its an easy add to any pot, you can see how I propagate it in this quick reel on my Instagram page.
I know this post is picture heavy & word light – but why type when the pictures speak for themselves? This tablescape feels like a breath of fresh air to me. I can’t believe I’ve neglected this pass through spot all this time. I dare say Chris may find himself on an at home table for 2 date soon!
Don’t forget to share!
