I know we’re all ready for Christmas decor (I feel ya, I’m right there too!) but I can’t move on to Christmas without sharing a few Thanksgiving table settings! I LOVE LOVE LOVE putting together Thanksgiving tablescapes. Getting to pull out all my china and mix and match the patterns makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. This year may be my favorite, most elegant Thanksgiving table setting inspiration & centerpiece yet! (That’s saying something because I REALLY liked the tables I did last year!) I went heavy on texture and I can honestly say that there isn’t a single thing I would change about the holiday table!
Our dining room is right off of the entry way and I LOVE how the centerpiece came together for a big impact! The hydrageas are end of season blooms that I dried and have been hanging out in that vase in my kitchen. I paired it with this round Target candle holder from a few years ago. The real drama comes in from the faux straw wreath though. I used some rustic wood slices as a base and put a wreath on top of them and then layered the candle holder and hydrangeas on top. The combination had me at hello & I know I’ll be sad to switch it for Christmas!
Let’s take a second to talk about thrifting shall we? Ya’ll know how I love a good thrift. I’m looking at this table and most of what I see in this table setting is thrifted, gifted or second hand. The plaid runner is a thick wool I thrifted years ago, the water goblets are thrifted, the napkins were given to me but are vintage, the napkin rings are thrifted as are the bowls, china plates and sterling silver chargers (talk about an amazing find). The silver candle sticks my husband gifted me years ago from an antique store and the green candle sticks are from an estate sale. The straw wreath was a garage sale purchase from my neighbor and my dad cut the wood slices for me years ago. How much of that would you have guessed from looking at this picture? I love buying second hand because you can find SUCH special and unique things. Thrifting can sometimes carry a stigma but it shouldn’t! (And if you still think thrifting is weird you need to be following The Makerista. You’d never believe her high end home is mostly thrifted!)
I took this photo standing in the corner of my dining room which is an angle I almost never am in and I was so happy when I loaded the pictures! This has such a ‘lodge’ feel to me! The railings in my house were one of the things that sold me when we first saw it and I love how you can see so much of them in this photo.
Candles, am I right? That glow with all the cut glass and crystal FEELS like home.
I scored a giant box of brand new colored tapers at an estate sale this summer and I am now a colored taper convert. I only had 2 green ones otherwise I would have done the entire table in them.
2020 has been A YEAR – it’s probably the 1 thing that everyone in the US (world?) can agree on. And yet there is still so much to be thankful for. Personally I am more thankful than ever for my family, my home and most importantly my God who has given me hope and a spirit of courage. Everyone has different ideas about what the holidays should look like this year. My hope in sharing these images is that you create your own Thanksgiving table for whoever you share the day with – even it it is just the people in your house. My husband and small boys encouraged me to do that for just us at Easter and it was a BLESSING to ME, even though it’s what they wanted. I pray that you bless your people the same way and that your Thanksgiving is filled with the people YOU are thankful for.
Much love & many thanksgiving blessings to you my friends!
